Not every glasshouse needs a full climate computer. For a small greenhouse where the goals are straightforward, keep the air temperature in range and shade the crop when the sun gets too strong, the DGT Sempleta does the job with very little fuss. It is a compact controller with two functional areas: room temperature and shade.
Operation is by a simple menu with mode buttons for temperature or light, and an Auto/Man button to switch between automatic and manual running. In automatic temperature mode you set the target with the arrow buttons and Sempleta opens and closes up to two sets of windows to hold it. Movements are made in short pulses, which keeps the gap between set and measured temperature as small as possible rather than swinging the vents wide open and shut.
For shading, you dial in the light level at which the screens should close. A photosensor measures the sun, and the screen follows. Tubular motors or gear motors can be used. In manual mode, you pick screen or window control and drive the function to the position you want. Forced closing can be scheduled, with the time interval adjustable up to 24 hours, and the unit accepts a gale or rain sensor input for forced closing and a fire alarm input for forced opening. These safety inputs should be installed by skilled craftsmen.
The enclosed temperature sensor connects directly, or you can use an RT10 or PT1000 climate sensor instead.
